All kinds of stuff to get to in this blog today so let's get at it! First off, after several attempts, for whatever reason, I could not get my NFL Draft blog to upload. Long story short, I thought the Colts did good, Bears did ok with what they had to deal with, Bengals did alright, while the Browns and Lions did great...that's right, the Browns and Lions did great. Go look it up if you don't believe me, could be contenders in the next couple years!
We had 2 concerts this past week and both were really good. Tantric killed it like usual, the crowd was super hyped for them...especially after they found out that Tantric was recording the show for their live dvd. As soon as we get more info on that we'll pass it along.
Then The Veer Union and Seasons After played this past Friday night. I've seen TVU a few times so I knew what to expect, but Seasons After blew me away. They're freakin' good!! I can't wait to see those guys play a full set and just go off. They also happen to be very cool guys so I hope they blow up nationwide!
There was a great local show Thursday night at C-Street with A New Definition and Autovator...and you missed it unless you were one of the 5 people there. Seriously, I don't mention shows like this because I have to, both bands brought even though there were only a few people there. I know it's Thursday night but come on people, it's not like you work hard on Friday anyway, you can afford to be a bit tired from the local show the night before.
So my NHL and NBA predictions were a bit off to say the least, lol. So I'm going to replace the Devils with the Penguins in the NHL Eastern Conference and the Nuggets with the Lakers in the NBA Western Conference. I do still have both teams I chose to win the championship alive so I guess that's good, lol.
As for things coming up this week, it starts with Game 7 at the Coliseum tomorrow night for the Komets against Port Huron. They scored with 2.1 seconds left in the 3rd period to force Game 7 Saturday night and that should give them lots of momentum. It still won't hurt to score first and set the tone. Hopefully all you crazy Komet fans can fill the Coliseum up and make a lot of noise for our boys!!
Local Licks this week is another really good show. It starts of with KTR (Kill the Rabbit) who are playing at Shooterz in Celina, OH this Saturday night. They're pretty much playing damn near every weekend which is awesome!! And they've got tons of shows booked til the end of the year, check 'em out on their myspace page! After KTR, it's Krimsha and Sirface who are playing together Friday night at Traxside in Garrett. Traxside has had a string of great local rock/metal shows here of late and this one promises to be absolutely phenomenal. Sirface seems rejuvenated since their album came out a few months ago and Krimsha just got back from recording their first EP. Both bands will bring it...guaranteed!
As for sports this week, I already mentioned the Komets, if they win, they'll be in the Turner Cup Finals for the 3rd straight season. Let's obviously hope that happens! The NHL and NBA playoffs are into the 2nd round. We should have a better idea of who's for real and who's not.
A lot of people have asked me about what I think of Carlos Zambrano being moved to the bullpen for the Chicago Cubs since I'm a huge Cubs fan. At first I thought the move was absolutely crazy! However, with the way the Cubs other 5 starters have been pitching I actually don't think it's that crazy anymore. Now I think the Cubs will probably move him back to the rotation come trade deadline time so they can make a move to fill a hole in their lineup, wherever they feel they need to. And they may trade Big Z to get whatever they need, or they may move one of the other 5 starters. It's never bad having 6 legitimate starters on your team, it gives you good leverage come trade deadline time. I know they're not playing phenomenal yet but their starting pitching has been pretty damn good so far, and more times than not, that usually means trips to the post-season for teams. We'll see in about 5 months I guess.
That's it for now, hope all is well and I hope to see ya soon!!
